Gourmet Live App Reviews

great, but buggy as hell:(

a visually and content-wise gorgeous app, but the frequent crashes spoil the experience to the point of rendering it unusable. Dear developers, please fix this, the app is bound to be great!

Beautiful and informative

This magazine-app is not only gorgeous, the food writing, the recipes and the overall content are of equal or sometimes even better quality than established printed media like Food & Wine and Saveur. And it is free!!! I dont understand the negative reviews

Not worth the wait.

There is neither a bold insouciance or earnest beginning in this app. It is lost in the shadow of decades of great Gourmet issues. One cannot even declare this as half-baked. An inscrutable requirement to use Facebook or Twitter. No linkage to existing Bon Appetit or Gourmet web site accounts. Im obliged to use it in portrait mode. Weird pop-ups like Grilling! And Pasta! that do nothing when I am exhorted to View Now. A lame, link-less, meandering article style that ignores 15 years of progress in building interactive pages -- hello, CSS? Earth to Conde Nast... how many committees thought this was wonderful? Thankfully, nobody is being charged for this.

One of the worse

Very bad design. You get trap with pop-ups, requests to sign-up (with no way out other then closing the app). Contains is light, no recipes. Clumsy navigation. One of the worse applications I tryed.

A good start

Pro: Well presented content, a good mix of video and the written word. Pleasant to look at and to read. Con: Could take more advantage of the iPads capabilities, feels a little tired already.

Looks so good but...

I love the look but hate the Twitter/Facebook nonsense! I want to navigate and get recipes. I want to read great articles. I do not want to join or sign up for anything. Please change this!

Waste!

I tried in vain to find any logic with this app. I finally un-installed it today, when it crashed my iPad. It continually wants you to do a Facebook or Twitter hook-up...why??? I managed to get to a recipe once! ...and, oh so many REWARD pop-up windows, that you can never close. So...dont waste your time installing this useless antiquated written app.

It can and will hard lock your iPad

Im not going to tell you whats good about Gourmet Live. Im not going to even tell you whats bad or lacking. None of that matters. Gourmet Live can and will hard lock your iPad requiring you to reboot the device. This is completely unacceptable and one of the problems with desktop computers that iOS devices were supposed to solve. The entire notion of a curated application store is to eliminated serious problems like these and its completely unacceptable for any iPad application to cause full on device locks. Im surprised this application even made it past screening.

Useless

Hard to figure out what they are trying to accomplish with this app. Lame stories and no recipes. Cant navigate from story to story. No way to login without Twitter or Facebook.

It Locked my iPad

The app "earns" you additional content as you read articles. It will then Pop Up and to say you have earned new content with a bell sound. When this happened the second time, my iPad totally locked up and I had to do a hard restart. There are denitely bugs in this application.

Enjoyable but buggy

I quite enjoy the stories in each episode and am looking forward to trying some of the recipes, but am becoming quite frustrated with my rewards freezing my app and not actually getting to view them. As well it seems that some of my older content is disappearing which Im not to pleased about. While frustrating I havent had to reset my iPad like the other reviews and Im guessing they just didnt wait for more than a moment.

Locks iPad

As other reviewers have noted, this app hard locks the iPad which not only requires a reboot but results in a loss of unlocked content. Not worth the download until these bugs are worked out.

Getting to be a great app

Good content and a clever way of presenting articles with rewards. The first few versions were buggy but I think they have it working like a charm now.

Very viral

You have to connect your account to Twitter or Facebook, Other than a little teaser content up front you can only access information that you "earn". Everything you can see is sponsored by Bobby Flay or Hellman Mayonnaise. This includes maybe 4 recipes for things like a turkey sandwich - WhoopWhoop! Oh yeah, and the interface is not at all intuitive. If this is the future I dont want any part of it. Way too controlling, seems like they want you to sell your soul to access the it precious content - Creepy!

Looks pretty, but still doesnt work

Doesnt matter which version Ive tried, they have all been unreliable. In frustration, I deleted the app, but then got sucked back in with promises of major bug fixes with the most recent version. Worked once, partially. I opened the app, the recipe page immediately came up which I could view and then there was no way to navigate back to the weeks issue. Closing the app didnt help because I couldnt restart it. The page would try to load and then it would crash. Restarting my iPad had no effect. The app has packed it in, yet again.

Fantastic app for food lovers

The more you read, the more recipes are sent your way! Great articles and recipes. You can also save your favorites recipes in your recipe bank for future easy access. Anyone who loves food and food magazines or famous chefs would love this app.

Very buggy app

This is is so buggy and crashed three times in five minutes. Please fix because it looks like a cool app.

Not good

App is constantly freezing or closing. Frustrating to use. This only since I bought the full $10 version, which I regret.

no content

Doesnt load any content whatsoever anymore. Great update.

Gourmet live
